# Platform Configurations

> Set the company-wide defaults that drive geofencing, order entry, and quotes.

## What you'll do

Review the company-wide defaults on **Settings → Configuration**. Each configuration is independent — set them in any order, and change any of them later with its **Edit** button.

## Before you start

* Operations agreement on how long a truck must sit inside a [geofence](/concepts/sites-geofences) before it counts as on-site.
* A list of units of measure (UoM) you bill in.

## The configurations

### Auto Order Completion

Toggle whether Tread automatically completes active orders at 12am when their start time was before 4pm.

### Geofence Creation

The default geofence for every new [Site](/onboarding/master-data/sites): the **Auto Geofence Type** (Circle) and the **Radius (ft)**. Tread auto-creates that geofence around each Site you add. The default radius is customizable — size it to cover the whole yard or plant entrance.

### Geofence Timer

**Default Geofence Delay (seconds)** — how long a truck must stay inside a geofence before Tread marks it on-site. Start at 60 seconds; raise it for busy yards where trucks pass through.

### Date Format

The default date format for the company.

### Default Onsite Minutes

**Default Pickup Onsite (mins)** and **Default Dropoff Onsite (mins)** — the default onsite duration for new orders.

### Allowed Units of Measure

The units available when creating or editing orders — toggle on only the UoMs your billing actually uses. At least one unit must stay selected.

### Quote PDF Terms

The default terms that print on every [quote PDF](/workflows/sales-quotes). Override them on a specific project when a quote needs different terms.

## Verify

* Create a test order — only the allowed UoMs appear, and the pickup and dropoff onsite minutes prefill.
* Add a new Site — a circle geofence with your default radius appears around it.
* Open a quote's PDF — your terms print on it, and dates follow your chosen format.

## Common mistakes

<Warning>
  **Setting Geofence Timer too low at busy yards.** A 10-second timer marks every passing truck as on-site, inflating dwell time and triggering false on-site events. Start at 60 seconds and tune down only if dispatchers report missed arrivals.
</Warning>

<Warning>
  **Setting the geofence radius too small.** If the circle doesn't cover where trucks actually stop, GPS pings never land inside it and arrivals go missing. Size the radius to the real footprint of the site.
</Warning>
