Job splitting lets a [vendor](/onboarding/master-data/vendors) divide one job into several smaller ones. The vendor manages their own truck count and load split, and you never have to edit the order for them. Say you order 110 loads of slag cement and split it across three vendors — 70 loads, 30, and 10. The vendor holding 70 loads can break that job into 15 jobs, one per truck, on their own. Email [support@tread.io](mailto:support@tread.io) to have it turned on. ## Part 1: Set it up as the order creator Two things have to be switched on — the vendor's account, and the order itself. ### Turn on splitting for the vendor Find the vendor, then open **Update Account**. The tooltip spells out what it grants: the vendor can edit their own job count. The Vendors list and the Update Account form with Allow vendor to split jobs checked This vendor can now split any job you send from an order that also allows it. ### Create the order Recommended, so the order totals read correctly. Each truck is one job. Quantity can stay at 1 — you set the real load counts in the next step. Miss this box and the vendor sees no **Split Job** action, even with their account setting on. The Create Order form with material, truck count, and the Allow vendors to split jobs checkbox ### Set the loads on each job Faster than editing each job row by hand. Bulk Edit on the order's Jobs tab with a load quantity set on each job row **A job's requested load count caps at 50.** Without job splitting enabled the cap is 25. This limits the loads Tread creates up front — loads added by hand or created automatically later are not capped. ### Dispatch to the vendors Vendors assigned across four job rows with the Send button on each ## Part 2: Split a job as the vendor You received one job for 50 loads and want five jobs, one per truck. A job you haven't accepted can't be split yet. Accepting a job, then opening the ••• menu on the job row and choosing Split Job The dialog shows the job's total requested quantity. **Distribute Evenly** splits the loads for you. Watch **Remaining** — it reads **Fully allocated** when the numbers balance.
